Senior Quantity Surveyor - Saudi Arabia

Applicants must demonstrate a strong QS background in large infrastructure projects Ideally degree educated or other equivalent tertiary qualification Ideally in the final stages of or having achieved relevant professional institute membership Typically 6 to 10 years post graduate experience in contract administration within the construction industry Contractual Awareness: ability to interpret contract documents to identify the parties obligations, liabilities & risks & continually advise & bring to the attention of the project team matters on which action is required Financial Awareness: ability to identify & interpret the factors that influence project income & expenditure and act on these to optimize cash flow & margin Commercial Awareness: ability to identify a contractual or financial issue that will influence the outcome of the Project and devise & implement a strategy to mitigate the risk or maximize the opportunity related to that issue Negotiation: ability to identify a position, formulate the arguments to be used to influence & persuade others as to the veracity of that position & engage in an endeavor to reach beneficial agreement while avoiding protracted contractual disputes Responsibilities

Reporting to Project Manager or as dictated by a specific project structure Regardless of a specific project structure, there is a functional reporting relationship through the Group commercial structure to the Group Commercial Manager Responsible for fulfilling the commercial function including optimising margin while protecting the Company from commercial risk on a project to a value of approximately $40m or on a larger project with defined areas of responsibility To act within & in accordance with the levels of authority specified in Company procedures including those set out the Design & Construction Authority Matrix W0152,S and any other authority that may be specifically delegated Supervise the preparation & submission of interim progress claims & final account & ensure their timely payment Manage and participate where necessary in the preparation, submission & agreement of variations Under guidance, prepare, submit & agree contractual claims for time & money Advise project management team on contractual issues & initiate correspondence Subcontract, Supplier: Prepare, issue, adjudicate, recommend & award with detailed input from engineering & construction team This is a unique opportunity to be part of a project which will change the face of rail transportation in the Middle East!
